Your virtual walk basically takes you to four websites where at each place you will “do” something with Riley like play with a toy. The idea is that you get to “virtual” walk a dog and the websites that you visit pay the Pedigree Adoption Drive every time you take Riley there. It sounds a bit weird or complicated but it really isn’t when you do it. You basically have instructions to press buttons and you just get to watch the gorgeous Riley basically do various normal dog behaviours. Just remember it only takes five mins but you raise £1 on each walk.

Great Website to Find Local Woods to Walk your Dog

As a dog owner who has just moved house, several counties away from where I have lived all my life, finding out new decent places to walk my dog is very relevant at the moment. However I think many dog owners like to find new interesting walks for their dogs all the time to have a bit of a change. My dog adores woodland, she runs around like a looney loving all the smells, so I was very pleased when I came across a website dedicated to woods you can visit.

Visit Woods has a brilliant search feature where you can type in your postcode and they then produce search results of woods near to your postcode, starting with the nearest. What I find particularly useful is the way you can see how big the woods is on a map, so you can decide for yourself whether it is a worth a car trip or not. There are some fairly large woods and also some little copses which are really great if they are very local to you on foot and you just didn’t know they existed! There is also a rating and comments feature from members of the public about what the woods is like and whether they are worth a visit.

Please note that not all the woods may be suitable for walking your dogs. Definitely worth checking out though to see if there are any woods near you that you didn’t know about. Also some woods may be quite small, but there may be footpaths nearby to make it into a longer dog walk.

Firstly I would like to apologise for the lack of blogs, special offers, updates etc on Bunnydog Pooches over the last few months. The main reason for this was because we had to move house and get it all arranged as quickly as possible because my other half got a new job. So basically we have been spending a lot of time trying to find a place to live several hours away from where we have lived all our lives and never visited. Of course to make matters harder, we were looking for property to rent that would accept our dog. Then add to that having to live without internet for over a month for various reasons. But we are now in our new house and we have internet, yay! So blogs, updates, special offers, etc will be coming very soon.

Secondly, if you haven’t noticed before now we are now Bunnydog Pooches not Bunnydog Pets. This is because I feel it is better to do a good job on helping dog owners with price comparisons and tips, rather than do a mediocre job on helping dog, cat AND bunny owners. I am hoping the extra time and effort gained will help me make this website a useful place for dog owners, hopefully in the not too far future.

Finally, I would like to thank regulars for bearing with the lack of progress the last few months. You may have noticed a few changes already but more will be done over the coming weeks to improve Bunnydog Pooches further and I hope you will like them.

Dogs Die in Hot Cars

I am sure lots of you who are animal lovers, particularly dog lovers, are still upset and angry over the story of the two police dogs who died because they were left in a car in the summer heat. It is so tragic and so avoidable!
It is awful to think that so many people do not realise the true dangers of leaving dogs in hot cars, or underestimate how little time (a few minutes) it can take for a dog to die.

Luckily, there are fantastic people who are trying to rectify this and help prevent more needless deaths occuring. Please check out the Cold Wet Nose Blog which is written by Beverley Cuddy who is the editor and publisher of Dogs Today Magazine. She, along with others, have come up with a fantastic sticker to put in as many places as possible to raise awareness. Lets hope this gets plenty of support and saves many lives.

A little while ago, there was a story about a mother and daughter who show lots of dogs professionally who were keeping their dogs in disgusting conditions. Unfortunately, although many of the dogs were seized from them, they were allowed to keep some. They are also still allowed to show at shows such as Crufts. The original story is here. Anyway, there is now a petition to try to prevent them being able to show dogs in the future at Crufts and also being registered with the kennel club. Please sign the petition which is here

Does your dog love water? It might be worth buying your dog a hard plastic pool to help them cool off on these hot summer days.

I have found childrens hard paddling pools to be cheap and to be easy to get hold of. No need to buy a special dog paddling pool! Plastic sandpits are often hard wearing enough to fill with water for your dog as well. Check out second hand ones on ebay, car boots, free ads etc.

I have just read some awful news about how a police officer left his two police dogs in a car and the dogs then died from literally baking to death. So so sad, poor dogs. The story is here

You should never ever leave your dogs in cars, especially in the summer. Please please remember this and make sure all you friends with dogs know this too. It can only take a few minutes for a car to heat up to fatal temperatures.

Just come across this on facebook. What a brilliant idea! I know lots of pet lovers, including myself, find it heartbreaking to see people giving away their pets for free to just anyone on free ads. People don't realise that their pets may be picked up by very nasty and cruel people! This group on facebook is doing fantastic work to try to stop people selling or giving away their pets on Gumtree.

I really hope this can help people find more responsible ways of rehoming their pets, like through rescues.

Lets hope Gumtree will try to be more responsible in the future and sort this problem out.

We have already had some really nice warm weather this year but hopefully we have got a lot more to come. We need to make sure that we keep our pets cool so they don't get uncomfortable or worse ill. There are of course lots of ways to make sure your pet stays cool this summer which are free and common sense too, but there are some pet products available which can help.

Check out the cooling jackets for dogs, cooling pads, dog sunglasses, bandanas and there is more in the health price comparison sections. Some of the ideas are so clever and I expect will be very popular with a lot of pet owners. They are definitely worth looking at anyway.

We have recently heard about a poor dog called Lennox from Dorset who was very unfairly put to sleep. It sounds horrendous and so tragic. Difficult to know exactly what happened but it involved the local dog warden and the local council who seemed to make some serious mistakes.

JW Cuz - The Toy Worth Saving From a River

Just thought we'd let you know about a really good, strong tough toy we found, the JW Cuz. We are always looking for rugged toys for our dog who is a Staffy Cross, she destroys most toys in seconds so we like to try new things out.

We came across the JW Cuz when doing some research and thought we'd give it a go. She loved it, and it is still alive after several weeks (Although she does only have it when she is out and about).

We initially brought a "Good Cuz", it is basically a tough rubber ball, with a squeaker and two little legs/feet. The feet make it really great for chucking about in a field, and it even squeaks when it hits the ground. We have since bought a "Bed Cuz" which has little horns as well as the feet and also a spare "Good".

We are so impressed with it that when it fell into the local river and got stuck on a branch, we went back 2 days later with old clothes on to wade in and rescue it... and to its credit, 2 days in a river didn't effect it in the slightest.

So we would very much recommend a JW Cuz for anyone with a "Destroyer", or a "Ball Chaser" as a tennis ball alternative too.

What is Bunnydog Pets Calculator?

You may have noticed that underneath most pet product’s descriptions is an orange button called Calculator. This calculator has been developed to help Bunnydog users pay the lowest amount for multiple products. This is needed because as you may notice one shop may sell one particular product cheaper than other shops but all the other items you are interested in may be cheaper elsewhere. You are then usually left trying to work out which shop will give you the cheapest price overall. The calculator tells you which shop is the cheapest overall when buying multiple items.

So let’s say for example that you want to buy a new dog collar and get some more dog food too. What you would do is go to the dog collar page and have look to see which collars you like. When you have found a dog collar you like, all you have to do is click on the calculator button underneath the collar’s description. This will then add that collar to your calculator. The calculator page will open in a new screen. You can add more than one collar if you like from the same or multiple shops (you will just have to pick later!); it doesn’t matter because the calculator sorts them into shops for you.

Now you have the collar or collars you like on your calculator page. You then need to go back to your original page with Bunnydog collars on and use the menu to get to the dog food page. Once you are on the dog food page, find the brand of food you want and then look in that grid for the particular food you want to buy. When you found your dog food, click on the calculator button underneath the dog food description. Your dog’s food will then be added to the calculator.

You can then look at the calculator page and see what shops have both your dog’s food and collars you like for the cheapest price. You can then use the blue link on the calculator page to go the shops if you like to go and buy the items.

Remember you can easily remove an item from calculator by clicking the remove button under the product on the calculator page. Don’t worry if you accidentally close the calculator page, just click on “cost calculator” at the bottom of the main menu on the left hand side of the page and your cost calculator will reopen with all products you have already put there still there. You can add and remove as many products as you like.

How to use Bunnydog Pets?

Bunnydog Pets price comparison pages are very easy to use, but the easiest way to explain it is to give you an example.

Example – Looking for the lowest priced Pedigree 3 kg Complete Adult Beef and Vegetables

First of all you need to get to the dog food page by using the menus on the left hand side of the pages and clicking on dog food or going via the dog home page. Now you are on the dog food page, you will notice that dog food is split into several pages going in alphabetical order, so you will then need to click on the menu at the top of the page that will take you to dog foods with names starting from Gu- Pu. This will take you to the page where pedigree dog food is about half way down the page.

When you have scrolled down the page you will find a title saying Pedigree and a grid where you can see pedigree food starting with the cheapest. To save you time you could also click on the word pedigree shown in blue in the menu below the introduction words.

The grid of products you come across shows four items at a time, cheapest on the left. The specific food you are looking for is not shown in the first four items so you need use the arrows ( < > ) on the bottom left hand side of the grid to display the next four cheapest items (Use the single arrow (>), the double one (>>) takes you to the final four items). To get to the food you want, you will need to click on the arrow about 5 or 6 times and then you will see the food you are after. You can also if you prefer, search for a keyword in the search box on the left of the grid to reduce the number of items to look through. So you could type in beef and then click search and it will show only products with beef in the title. You can then again use the arrow to go through the products.

When you have found the product you are after there is a picture of the food with a title and description underneath together with the price. The name of the shop where this food is the cheapest of all the compared shops, will is shown in blue. If you click on this blue name of the shop, you will be taken to that shop’s website where you can then buy if you wish. If the product is available in other shops you can also click on “other shops” which is underneath and a little window will open showing the prices of all shops who have this product. Clicking on the picture or shop name will take you to their website.

Ok that’s it, sorry if I have managed to really complicate it! LOL!

In a few words all you need to do is:
Find and go to relevant page using menus on the top left
Scroll down page to find grid where you might find product
If you can’t see product or a product you like, use the arrows to display the next products or if there is a search box, type a key word into search box and press search
Once you have found product you like, you can click on the blue text which is a link to the shop.


For some products you may see the words “Sizes/Options” underneath a product. If you click on this it will show different varieties of the product which are available such as size and colour. Clicking on the picture or shop name will take you to their website.
